Choosing Flat Screen TV Stands

These days, if you're buying a new TV, it almost always means you're buying a flat screen TV, and that means you need to go shopping for flat screen TV stands. But you can't buy just any old TV stand. You paid a lot of money for that new television, especially if it's a big screen television, so you need to make sure you buy a TV stand that will keep it safe. Here you can learn how to find TV stands that will work well with and look good with your new flat screen television.Choosing Flat Screen TV Stands Based on SizeWith the conventional cathode ray tube televisions, size was all that mattered. The size of the TV stand that you needed was based mostly on the size of the television that you purchased. Not only was the size of the screen important, but the depth of the TV also played a role in the type of stand that could support it. With today's flat panel TVs, the size of the screen is often larger than a conventional television, but the depth of the screen is far less. This means a TV stand doesn't have to be quite as large to be able to hold a television. However, there is one other important factor that needs to be considered.Aspect RatioWhen it comes to flat panel TVs, it's about more than just size. The aspect ratio of a flat screen TV is much different from that of the conventional TV. Conventional televisions had a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is almost, but not quite, square. Flat panel TVs, on the other hand, have a 16:9 aspect ratio, making them much more rectangular. This aspect ratio accommodates for both the HDTV format and film formats and provides for a richer viewing experience. So what does this mean for TV stands? A TV stand now needs to be wider to protect the length of the television screen. If you put a flat screen TV on an old TV stand, the ends would hang over the edge and someone could easily bump into it and knock it over.Choosing Your StyleThe change in size of these TVs has obviously affected some changes in style. Find out what's changed, and what hasn't, when it comes to the look of TV stands. Some Things Stay the SameThe basic styles of TV stands haven't changed. If you want a modern stand to match your modern décor, you can find one for your flat panel television. And if you want your brand new television to fit in with the traditional furniture that you already own, there are plenty of television stands made in a very traditional style. You'll also find all of the same materials you'd normally find in furniture: wood, metal, glass, veneer, and more. Some Things ChangeSome things have, of course, changed when it comes to stands that will work with your flat panel TV. Size and aspect ratio have obviously affected some styles of stands. Many stands for flat screens are made to be longer, narrower, and sometimes lower to the ground. Another style that has popped up due to the nature of a flat screen is the flat entertainment center. These types of entertainment centers provide a flat, wall-like surface on which to mount the television, and space at the bottom or on the sides for storage.Wall MountsLast but not least, many people are choosing not to buy any sort of TV stand at all. Where do they put their TV? They mount it directly on the wall, running the wiring through the wall. If they need storage for other media equipment, they choose a small piece of furniture that can accommodate their needs. The most important thing to remember when shopping for a TV stand for your flat panel television is the safety of your television. Get a stand or mount that will support your television and that will blend in with your overall style.

Potassium Diet - A Low Potassium Diet for Kidney Disease

If you are someone that suffers from weakened or diseased kidneys, then you need to be very careful about the foods you eat. A good kidney Diet plan will help you to keep an eye on minerals like potassium and calcium that can easily start to build up in the body due to the kidneys being unable to rid the body of them in time. Getting too much potassium can lead to a problem called hyperkalemia, which involves having too high of a concentration of potassium in the blood. If you suffer from kidney problems, you will need to watch how much potassium you get each day to avoid this.Normally, it is recommended people get around 4700 mg potassium each day. For those that are suffering form a chronic kidney disease that amount should be no more than 2700 mg. To stay within these boundaries, a good kidney Diet plan should consist of things like three servings of vegetables and three servings of fruits that are low in potassium each day, such as lettuce, cucumbers, and apples. Dairy is a good option because it is low in potassium and the calcium it has is easy for the body to absorb. Try to get one or two servings of dairy each day. This can include things like cheddar cheese and a small amount of margarine.A good kidney Diet plan will usually contain between three and seven servings of meats that are low in potassium each day. Turkey breast is always a healthy choice, and you can have a hard boiled egg as well. When it comes to grains, between four and seven servings will be fine. Some good foods that fall into the grain category that are also low in potassium include white bread, English muffins, and non sweetened corn cereal.A good low potassium diet can still involve you enjoying all or most of your favourite vegetables. The only recommendation is that you LEACH the vegetables before consumption. The process of leaching will help pull potassium out of some high-potassium vegetables. However, you should bear in mind that leaching will not pull out all of the potassium from your vegetables.Once you get accustomed to a good Kidney Diet plan that is low in potassium you will see that it's not terribly challenging to follow. As long as you avoid the fruits like bananas and kiwis that are very high in potassium and make sure to drink enough fluids, you should be in good shape.

Choosing a Dual 12 Inch Subwoofer Box

I needed to find a dual 12 inch box for my subs fast. I had already purchased my subwoofers and now I had the chronic addiction of hearing my subwoofers pound inside of a box. There were so many different variables that I needed to look at and decide. I have made a small list to help anyone that is looking at buying a box for their subwoofers that will sound the best. The first variable you want to look into is, what type of sound do you desire to get our of your subwoofers. If your looking for the deepest sound inside the car that is crisp and quick as possible, you want a sealed box. Sealed boxes are just a box that is sealed and has no air gaps. These have been around for ages, and are very reputable to go with.If you want the bass to be heard from other people outside of your car and as far away as possible, than a vented box is more your style. Vented boxes are somewhat new technology and are said to be double the loudness in a lot of instances. Your subwoofer will have special specifications of what frequencies the port or vent should be tuned to.The box can make or break how loud your system is, so it's a huge deal. I have seen the cheapest car audio equipment sound ten times louder than a guy that spend thousands because the box was better designed. Look into what box best suits you and your subwoofer. You may regret it, if you don't make the correct choice from the get go.
